1. School year of nine months
2. Suitable salary
3. Proper lighting
4. School grounds of at least 1/2 acre
5. Schoolhouse in good repair
6. Well or sanitary drinking fountain
7. Hardwood floors
8. Heating and ventilating system
9. Library of 80 volumes
10. Seats and desks suitable for all ages
11. Good blackboards with some for small children
12. A dictionary, flag, maps, charts, glove, organ, and pictures
*Almost every school had a picture of George Washington & Abraham Lincoln. Some schools also had pictures of other significant Generals

Burned down (probably made of logs) and in 1923 a new two-story building on Buffalo St was built to replace the building that burned in 1915. Total income and outgoing was over $12,000 with teacher's salaries accounting for more than half. Quite an increase over the $150 voted for school. It is thought that in 1915 the City Hall (that had originally been a school) which was destroyed by fire in 1915) was built, but the photo of the two-story multi room building dates the photo at 1908. The graduated number for 1908 was 25. In 1920 the graduating class was 4. In 1914 the 7th and 8 grades had a number of 16 in their photo outside in front of a wooden-frame school | ||

This frame building was to be 24 ft x 30 ft with a 10 ft ceiling. In 1891, a brick foundation was added. In 1891, he school was remodeled and added an addition. It was still over-crowded. In 1947, they were forced to use the basement of the Methodist Church. In 1948, an acre playground was added along with new toilet facilities. Riverside/Hagar #6 dealt with their overcrowding but did not consolidate with Coloma. The schoolhouse is still in use today with 83 registered students. In 1957/8 Harbert, Lakeside and Sawyer combined once Chikaming School was built. Bedford that some students had been attending Riverside instead of Hargert. (Different information. It burned down about 1866. In 1867, the Dill Boys built the existing Stickney School building. In 1859, there were 23 students at Stickney for a 7.5 month school year. In 1924, Stickney educated students from the beginners grade through 8th grade, but after that in 1925 the 7th and 8th graders attended Watervliet City School. Sometime in the 1930's the 5th and 6th graders also started attending the City School. The last year Stickney housed pupils was the 1939-40 school year when 28 were enrolled. It then closed as a school, but was used as a community center with a variety of events. In 1955, the Church of Christ became owners of the Stickney School.
