John Koeskey found out that East Bay Schoolhouse at Camp Sherwood near Walloon Lake was to be sold for $75.25. (his bid) He then arranged to have it transported by truck for $400 to Horton Bay. It remains there today, but has not been a school since it consolidated. It may be leased to the church as a Parish House. He did this to try and alleviate the overcrowding of the Horton Bay Schools as some children were meeting in the Township Hall.
