Rice Creek #2f | Marengo | Calhoun | -by 1967 | NW corner of Eric & Gibbs Rds in Jackson County | 1 | B | Rice Creek had been asking Albion for consolidation since 1962. Albion kept denying the request because 1. Rice Creek was in Jackson County and 2. Albion was overcrowded as it was. In 1964, Concord School readily accepted Rice Creek #2f. In the future this would become a problem. Albion was not aggressive in annexing rural schools while Concord, Homer & Springport made an effort to recruit students from rural schools. One reason parents wanted their student to NOT go to Albion was racial prejudice as Albion Schools had a large population of black students. By June 1967 all rural schools were closed.
