Originally a brick school. Named for Jeremiah Wines. In the 1950's considered joining with Gay School. Instead they renovated the school including indoor bathrooms. In 1965, Wines annexed to Albion. Parents in Wine were afraid their children would end up in Albion's Crowell School in Albion which was largely a black school. School property reverted back to the farm owner and the schoolhouse was used as a church. A History of Albion

Named after Amos A. Babcock a farmer and carpenter who built the first home in the area. It was a wooden-frame school and was moved around a few times. Finally a brick school was built that still stands. A basement was added in the 1930's as part of a WPA project. A housing boom in Babcock overcrowded the school and the 7h & 8th graders were sent to Homer. In 1949 an addition was made on the N side of the brick Babcock School. In 1966 Babcock annexed with Albion. In 1971 Bath Mills became a permanent residence. A History of Albion
