In 1876 a three-room wood-framed school was built on Main St. In 1912 a new brick school was built and used as Webberville H.S. until 1960. In 1874 there was a vote to move the school to the Leroy Village. The next year again there was a vote to change the location and built a new schoolhouse. Later that year it as decided that a three-room frame school would be built on Main St. It will be 32 ft x 50 ft, two-stories. By 1925 Leroy is now called Webberville. CRORES P. 76

Not much is known about this schoolhouse. In 1882 the residents voted to raise a tax for a new schoolhouse. One of these schools was purchased in the early 1900's and moved from the end of Blackmore and Kinneville Rds to the Kinneville Rd address. I CRORES p. 71

In 1860 a frame schoolhouse was built at Saginaw and Pine Lake Rd. In 1936 Tower Garden Schoolhouse was constructed due to crowding at Carl. Tower Garden in 1949 was a 4 room cinder block school. In 1952 the new, modern William Donley School was built. Students from the Carl district were split between Haslett and East Lansing. The WPA gave a date of 1891 for the building of this school. In 1936 They stated it was 806 sq ft, framed-school in S/12. No plumbing, heat from a stove, electric lights and well water. Also a 14 ft x 8 ft wood shed, and the one acre site was fenced. In 1955 it was annexed to Leslie. Children who lived in the annexed districts of Childs, Weeks, Morse or Sunnyside continued to attend the rural schools. Building sold in 1956. CRORES p. 82

Dansville Village district was first organized in 1847. A wood-frame school was built in 1857. Union School with grades K-12 was built at the site of the wood-frame school. It was brick and had four-rooms with 3 teachers. It was known as the Ingham Township Agricultural School and located in Dansville. Dansville was rated a Standard School in 1933. In 1953 Sherman from Wheatfield and Mt. Pleasant and Williams from White Oak also annexed to Dansville. Then next year Wilson & Cady also annexed. CRORES p. 53

For most of the 1920's the pupils attended other schools as Harper had low enrollment. By 1929 enough pupils had moved into Harper District to re-open the school. The WPA in 1936 reports a frame-school 24 ft x 36 ft and 12 ft high. There was a 4 ft x 8 ft addition and a 4 ft x 6 ft porch. The floors were hardwood and the lights electric, with no plumbing. In 1955 Harper annexed to Mason. Mason sold the frame building, but by 1965 it had been demolished. CRORES p. 214

The Whitney's donated land on the Grand River for Onondaga #1 called Riverside. In 1933 it was acknowledged as a Standard School. It had 2 or 3 classrooms. In 1958 it annexed to Leslie but continued to be used for elementary children from Onondaga possibly into the early 1970's. It is now a brick residence. CRORES p. 76 Michigan Shadow Towns says the large brick schoolhouse was built in 1903 and is now a residence. It closed in 1972 and the students go to Leslie. Onondaga had consolidated with Leslie in the 1960's

#10 Sessions School, is the oldest still standing cobblestone school in Michigan. It was on W Riverside Dr. It was restored in 1918. Built in 1847 by Alonzo Sessions, it was built entirely of field stones found on the 1000 acre farm of Sessions. He also had a home built of cobblestone. After 51 years it became too small and a new brick school was built on the N side of Riverside Dr about 1898. The Slate Spring 1997. It is on the 1880 Annual School Report that their were 33 students. History of Ionia and Montcalm Counties. In 1956 merged with Hubbardston. Later they all merged with Carson City Schools
